For quite some time, the Foundation has been looking for a marine environment project to support, being one of the five Objects of the Gregory Mills Foundation. After a few false starts, with the help of our friend and diving instructor, Nicki, we have identified a project with which we can become involved and, despite not being able to visit ourselves (as we ordinarily would want to do) with which we are comfortable that our funding will be put to good use. One of the main reasons for this level of comfort is because Nicki has visited one of the projects instigated and run by Ocean Gardener and she has a former colleague who has worked with Ocean Gardener. 

The fact that this project is in Indonesia has particular significance for the Foundation.

At the time of writing this update, they are laying down the foundations of their new project in Chrystal Bay, Nusa Penida, Bali and are setting up the nursery, for future reef restoration work in that area, so our approach to discuss funding has come at an opportune time. 

To contribute to marine environment protection work being done by Ocean Gardener, the Foundation has funded two nursery racks, each "seeded with 20 mother colonies and 100 fragments”. Please see here for further information on these racks:
